Katherine Priddy lands her highest charting album with 'These Frightening Machines'
We’re thrilled to celebrate a major milestone for Katherine Priddy, whose stunning new album These Frightening Machines has become the highest-charting release of her career.
Released on March 6 via Cooking Vinyl, the record has made an impressive impact across the UK charts:
No.1 – Americana Chart
No.21 – UK Albums Chart
No.2 – Independent Albums Chart
No.1 – Record Store Chart
No.4 – Physical Albums Chart
A bold and sonically adventurous album, These Frightening Machines marks a new creative chapter for Priddy and continues her rapid rise as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary British music.
Written during Priddy’s transition from her twenties into her thirties, the record explores themes of identity, growth and uncertainty. Across its ten tracks, it moves through a wide emotional spectrum — from anger and despair to hope, longing and love — while examining the pressures and systems that shape our lives.
“At its core,” Priddy says, “These Frightening Machines explores the ever shifting relationship I have with my sense of self as a woman, my body and my place in the world as a 30-year-old artist.”
The album features a number of notable collaborators. American singer-songwriter Torres appears on the duet Madeleine, while Richard Walters joins Priddy on I'm Always Willing. Revered alt-folk multi-instrumentalist Ben Christophers also features across much of the album.
